CAF Annual Dinner Attended by Adam Bandt MP as Guest of Honour

On Friday 13 September, CAF held its annual dinner to celebrate achievements over the past year in advancing the participation and integration of the Chinese community in Australia's multicultural society.

The dinner kicked off with MC Joyce Yuan expressing gratitude to all guests for attending. She introduced that the Chinese-Australian Forum (CAF) was established in 1985 and expressed its long-term efforts to promote Chinese participation in Australia's democratic process.

Simon Chan (CAF Chairman) reviewed events over the past year and highlighted how challenges in Australian society can be jointly faced together with community groups. These challenges include: housing shortages, education funding issues, reducing emissions, and maintaining unity of multicultural groups.

Newtown State MP Jenny Leong expressed her hope for better unity between Australia's multicultural communities. She emphasised the importance of equal rights and the breakaway of any form of racism and discrimination.

The Greens Party Leader Adam Bandt expressed the common values that his Party shares with the Chinese community, especially in the promotion of multiculturalism and social justice. He foresees more support for the international student community in the issues that they (and the wider population) are facing in housing and living standards.
